Summer is here as heralded in by the summer solstice and with it comes the hurricane season, officially starting June 1st. The first named storm of the season will be Andrea. You can get the complete list of 2013 storm names and some background here.
The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Hurricane Preparedness event, June 12 – Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness.
Why not try something different for your kids summer camp activities this year? Microsoft will be offering code camps for 8 – 15 year olds at the Dadeland Mall Store from June 10 – August 16.
With summer also comes a plethora of fantastic events in South Florida. Coming up June 13 is TEDxDelrayBeach Think Again Simulcast event. June 29 is SQL Saturday. July 13 is IT ProCamp

Dave Noderer ‘Fly In’ to Capitol Hill
|
Dave Noderer just returned from a visit to Capitol Hill where he met with the staffs of Bill Nelson, Marco Rubio, Alcee Hastings and Lois Frankel. This was part of the annual “FlyIn” hosted by the Association for Competitive Technology. Scott Weiner from Parents with Apps posted a nice wrap up of the events. And Dave got his picture taken with Marco Rubio.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez inaugurated the anticipated second Microsoft store to open in North America, this time at the world-renowned Dadeland Mall in Miami’s Kendall district. Members of the South Florida business community, public officials and the press were present at the ribbon cutting ceremony during the official opening of the retail outlet.

TCI Miami to launch Emerging Business Forum
|
TCI is launching a new Emerging Business Forum (EBF) in Miami, a 12-month membership program specifically designed for women entrepreneurs well to their way to building a successful enterprise in South Florida, but not yet ready for the Forum. Emerging business leaders must have been in business for a minimum of 1 year, have a current business, and a net profit of at least $100K. Some of the topics addressed in the EBF include: Legal Overview, Financial Systems, Operations Overview, Human Resources, Building Your Brand, and Technology. Microsoft, Dadeland to offer free Summer Code Camp for kids
|
Microsoft will be offering code camps for 8 – 15 year olds at the Dadeland Mall Store from June 10 – August 16.
The Summer Camp courses are offered on a once a week basis. There are five days in the course, 2 hours long each session. The courses are 100% FREE of charge and we provide the computers. At least one caregiver must remain onsite at all times with the child.
