VP of IT

Our South Florida based client is hiring a Vice President of Information Technology to replace their retiring VP of IT of the past 10 years.

Compensation:  based on experience, base plus great benefits and bonus.

The VP of IT will lead technology at this well-established, rapidly growing electronics and hardware product development company.  Industries served include Medical, Telecommunications, Defense, and Aerospace. 

In this mission-critical role, you will report to both the President and CFO, and lead the core IT department, as well as provide direction to multiple subsidiary IT departments.

In this role, you will interact with:

  • 10 Top Executives
  • 50+ General Managers
  • Mergers & Acquisitions Team

The VP IT role provides direction and assistance to almost 100 IT professionals:

  • 6 direct reports
  • 30 indirect reports
  • 50 people at subsidiaries

Time allocation of a typical week:

  • 30% of time working with IT Security & Compliance Team
  • 20% of time with Infrastructure Planning & Outages
  • 20% Running 80 projects at any one time
  • 10% of time 30 Budgets per year, approving invoices
  • 10% with regular compliance & auditors
  • 10% of time working with Mergers & Acquisition, Merger Assessments, Infrastructure Assessments, Post Acquisition implementations
  • 10% catching your breath, resting & relaxation (oops, that makes 110%, scratch this last one)

Weekends: Couple of calls & emails over the weekend to validate that something that happened in production is being addressed.

 

From a technical architectural perspective, you must be able to sit down with a team of infrastructure engineers, support center engineers, security engineers and business analysts to describe a project, listen to solutions, hear them out, push back where needed, and architect a solution to assure security and scalability.

Management of the Engineering & Support team is core priority. There is a great team of technical expertise in house, the systems are running well, overall. 

ITIL expertise is paramount, how to manage changes in production, how changes are approved, recorded, thought through, and successfully implemented.

  • Networking
  • Active Directory
  • Many backup technologies
  • VMWare
  • Exchange
  • Citrix
  • ERP Systems SiteLine, Simex, Dynamics, Quantum, Pentagon, and multiple custom built.  Many subsidiaries have their own custom build ERPs built in various old systems such as Pick, Access & FoxPro.  Those systems may have to be migrated and/or integrated (moving at their speed of business people – support the business, go with the business decisions to make it work).

Education:

  • 4 Year Technology Degree minimum
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Management coursework a plus
  • Technical Certifications are a plus

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years as a CIO, VP of IT or IT Director in a heavily regulated global company.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years as a IT Systems and/or Software Engineer.
  • A deep experience level in providing IT services to the manufacturing, electronics and/or aerospace industries.

Technical Software Project Manager, SDK

Type: Contract / Onsite

The Project Manager will lead projects/programs that are technically complex in nature and span across software and several stakeholder organizations. The Project Manager will have proven experience and technical skills to solve complex problems and leadership skills to drive teams to deliver high-quality features on time. The ideal candidate will be passionate about handling highly ambiguous technical problems for targeted disruptive scenarios.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work side by side with development, QA, product management, marketing, UX, content developers, senior executives, legal, privacy, back-end systems, research groups, factory and assembly, etc. The Project Manager will develop an exciting augmented reality platform for developers and consumers. Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate technical requirements and solution architecture for complex features.
  • Collaborate with software teams and stakeholders to identify dependencies, create software requirements, develop and maintain project schedules and track milestones.
  • Gather requirements and build consensus across numerous departments.
  • Facilitate communication between development teams, QA, product management, UX, content developers, and coordinate deliveries.
  • Maintain risk register and actively pursue mitigation plans.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in project management with 3+ years of experience as a software developer.
  • Proven capacity to take software development features from early stages of planning to shipping and production.
  • Understands framework, API design, and software development kit (SDK) production.
  • Capable of handling highly ambitious product scenarios into discreet actionable technical deliverables.
  • Demonstrated experience in project/program planning, successful execution, and risk management
  • An excruciatingly high-level of attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast pace environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of professionals across different time zones.
  • Proven ability to understand mobile software requirement concepts and related technologies pros & cons.
  • Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages including but not limited to: C/C++, C#, Objective-C, Java.
  • Experience using tools such as Confluence, JIRA, and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Experience in Localization, Internationalization of Consumer Electronic devices is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, software engineering, or relevant field.

Senior Network Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Develops solutions to increase systems and service stability through automation and process re-engineering.
  • Installs, manages and maintains both physical and cloud infrastructure to enable the delivery of compute, storage, and network resources.
  • Develops SLIs and SLOs for production services and helps monitor overall system health.
  • Builds and supports tools and systems that engineers use to deploy their services into production.
  • Participates in rotating on-call duties in a global, 24x7x365 team.

  • Hands-on experience working with both wired and wireless l2/l3 equipment, e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto.

Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Storage

Type: Contract / Onsite
 

Provide engineering and support of enterprise-level systems, storage, and backup solutions. Responsibilities include providing technical support and design for enterprise backup solutions and enterprise systems and storage solutions. Act as lead for storage automation projects. Also includes resolving backup and storage-related problems by gathering diagnostic information for submission to the vendor support team, applying and testing fixes, and performing corrective maintenance; supporting software and hardware upgrades, and performing daily storage and backup related tasks such as storage provisioning and adding new systems to storage and backup solutions. Ability to work with system administrators and network.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage storage focused trouble tickets end-to-end.
  • General management of EMC Isilon storage environment.
  • Act as lead for storage automation projects.
  • NFS/SMB troubleshooting and resolution. Responsible for resolving storage issues.
  • Coordinate and manage migrations/cutovers aligning to ITIL and client requirements
  • Document and provide best practices on maintenance, configuration, and internal processes

Experience

  • Overall storage administration experience of 5+ years.
  • Strong hands-on experience with EMC Isilon administration
  • Strong hands-on experience in storage automation (Perl, Python, REST API)
  • Exposure and some experience on other storage technologies e.g. Rubrik, Nimble will be a plus.
  • Exposure to build and manage storage systems.
  • Experience in data center migrations and consolidations for storage and backup technology
  • Experience in installation/upgrade for EMC Isilon clusters
  • Basic understanding of network technologies and architecture
  • Basic understanding of UNIX and Windows administration
  • Basic understanding of backup technologies

Audio Systems Technician

Type: Contract / Onsite

SherlockTalent is seeking an acoustics technician to join a team developing the next generation of wearable spatial computing devices. The role involves setup and running of audio tests, collaboration across teams, lab maintenance, and general audio team assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Run semi-automated acoustics tests, reviewing results and debugging as needed.
  • Document results for Acoustics team review and publishing to external teams (SW, QA, etc.).
  • Support audio team with basic electronics, soldering, setup, and internal company processes (purchases, NDAs, contracts, materials, etc.).
  • Keep acoustics lab organized and stocked with the necessary equipment.
  • Basic setup and support of Windows PCs in the acoustics lab.
  • Debug audio failures using standard automated tests and methodical approach

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience setting up and running acoustic tests of consumer electronic devices.
  • Ability to follow setup manuals and test procedures.
  • Ability to debug and repair electronics systems.
  • Familiarity with electronics tools like multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering iron, etc.
  • Proficiency in general computer tools (Google Sheets+Docs, Word, Excel, file storage, etc.).
  • Experience running automated acoustics tests, debugging and reviewing data.
  • Experience setting up and calibrating audio equipment like microphones, amplifiers, and HATS.
  • Knowledge of basic acoustics.

Preferred:

  • Ability to adapt tests to changes in device SW and objectives.
  • Experience with testing SW devices.
  • Experience with audio test systems including ACQUA, AP, Soundcheck, and Klippel.
  • Experience with typical software tools like Jira (bugs) and Ariba (purchasing).
  • Experience setting up audio systems (rackmount, power, wiring, connectors, amplifiers, balanced and unbalanced connections, phantom power, etc.).
