BIG DATA – Massive, Variable, Continuous
BIG DATA is the term to learn this week. Shawn Rogers, Vice President of Research, Business Intelligence at EMA, delivered an excellent presentation on BIG DATA at last Friday’s TDWI quarterly meeting, sponsored by SherlockTech. This graphic summed up the definition for me quite well. Massive quantities of unstructured data originating from variable location on a continual basis.
Thanks again to Shawn for giving us permission to reproduce his graphic, the complete presentation is available here. You can find out more about Shawn at his Blog
More BIG DATA /w Homnick and Hadoop
On Thursday of this week, Joe Homnick will be presenting on BIG DATA with Hadoop at the .NET Miami Users Group in Oggi Caffe in the SherlockTech office building located in Miami Beach/North Bay Village. RSVP@MiamiUsersGroup if you wish to attend. He’ll deliver the same presentation in Boca next month at the Gold Coast Users Group. The inaugural meeting of the Cloud Security Alliance South Florida, will be this Wednesday, which also impacts the BIG DATA phenomenon.
Cloud Security in the BIG DATA mix
One aspect of BIG DATA is The Cloud and when dealing with massive quantities of data, Cloud Security becomes an important consideration. On Wednesday this week, the Cloud security Alliance of South Florida will hold its inaugural meeting at the Oggi Caffe in the SherlockTech office building. Come along and support this new group while building you knowledge of the BIG DATA eco-system. Guest speakers include: Richard Redriguez, Albert Cabellero and Pete Nicolettie.
