Tech Night and ITPalooza

In addition to the quality events we present here weekly, there are a number of mile-stone events that deserve a place in your calendar long before the event organizers have finalized all the details.

Two such events are featured in this weeks newsletter and they are both perennial favorites.

The first is the 4th Annual Tech Night at the Ballpark, taking place August 23 at Marlins Park, Miami

The second is a favorite of all South Florida, it’s the return of ITPalooza (ITP16) for the fifth year. This year the event will be held at a new venue with an exciting all-day format.

SFIMA Presents Park Howell “How to Drive Business Results for Organizations with the One True Superpower We All Possess – Storytelling” – May 12

Technology has leveled the communications playing field. Brands no longer dominate mass media, because the masses are the media. Smart companies have evolved from promoters of stuff to publishers of meaningful content.

And the really smart ones use the irresistibility of solid storytelling to be heard in our noisy world and move people to action. Isn’t it ironic that technological advancements have provided us all with a global voice, and yet it is the ancient and proven power of storytelling that still connects us to one another?

So why aren’t more businesses using story to their advantage? You can, and I’ll show you how.  Join Park Howell, host of the widely acclaimed Business of Story podcast and President & Founder at Park&Co in this interactive business storytelling workshop, to learn how to unleash the power of storytelling to drive results for your business.

GUESS SPEAKER – PARK HOWELL

As a 30-year ad agency veteran, Park Howell has perfected a proven approach to business and brand story strategy that drives sales for professional service firms.

To rise above the cacophony of the attention economy, businesses of all sizes are having success with the Story Cycle. Park distilled this 10-step process from the timeless narrative structure of the ancients based on American mythologist Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey.” It was inspired by the story artists of Hollywood, influenced by masters of persuasion, guided by trend spotters, and informed by how the mind grapples for meaning.

Are we doing enough?

Are we doing enough?

I continue to meet South Florida residents who seem entirely unaware of the tremendous technology community that exists in our region. They are always surprised when I tell them about the wealth of technology courses available to students at our top ranked accredited Universities and Colleges. They shake their heads in disbelief when I explain the wealth of technological history, from IBM to Motorola. And they are amazed at the magnitude of tech companies like Citrix, Magic Leap and Ultimate Software.

Perhaps we need to widen our scope?
