Maybe you’ve always wanted to build your own apps, but didn’t know where to begin. Maybe you’ve even spent time trying to teach yourself how to code but never saw anything interesting happen, just some text being shown on a console. Well, this class will teach you how to code while making it FUN!
You will learn the basics of Javascript by working on a game. The graphics and complicated stuff is handled for you so your focus will be on programming simple behaviors for the characters of the game. No prior experience required!
Come join us and find out that coding is not that daunting after all. Learn the basics of coding in Javascript by making your own game and publishing it online.
Class outline is as follows:
- Intro to programming concepts in JS – variables, if statements, functions and loops.
- Understanding what objects are for and how to use them
- Understanding how to Make jQuery manipulate browser objects
- Understanding browser events and coding to respond to them
- Lunch will be provided.
You will be provided with the framework of a game and by the end of the class you will have created a character that can move and enemies that can interact with you.
You’ll experience detailed learning through fast-paced, step-by-step instruction, examples, hands-on access to your own folder on a server to play around while you learn.
