Miami’s top food-delivery startup is opening a new kitchen. You won’t be able to eat there

Miami-based REEF Technology, a combination food, real estate and technology business valued at more than $1 billion, has purchased a space in Midtown where it plans to build a commissary kitchen to satisfy local food delivery and retail orders.

“We’re proud to continue growing our company in Miami,” REEF said in a statement. “The space will house a new production kitchen that allow us to better service REEF Kitchens as we expand across the greater Miami area.”

REEF has gained national attention as one of the pioneers of so-called “ghost kitchens,” which involve providing food delivery options from restaurants in name only that can only be ordered from via a food delivery app.
