IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses opposed to IPv4 (the old system) that used 32-bit addresses. Major service providers, including Google, celebrated World IPv6 day on June 6 2012 by rolling out the technology. It means more address space for all those smart phones and billions of other future devices that will need connectivity as South Florida continues to play its part in expanding the world of IT.
