Technology leader in Miramar, FL is looking for a 0-20 hour per week part-time SQL/ Data Warehouse Developer to join their team for a 6 month+ project.  Must be flexible

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs hardware architecture for our enterprise SQL Server platform for optimum high availability, redundancy, disaster recovery, security and performance including associated technologies such as SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, AlwaysOn and VMWare.
  • Provides expertise and guidance in new projects to remain compatible with our enterprise SQL Server platform.
  • Plays a leading role in ensuring that all SQL Servers are running on supported software, hardware and comply with organizational standards.
  • Jointly responsible for proactive monitoring, security, integrity and recovery of databases. Implements advanced programming to automate or improve database operational and maintenance tasks, including testing thereof.
  • Provides leadership and direction for implementation of new standards, policies and procedures for our SQL Server platform.
  • Performs research and recommendation/acquisition of cost effective database administration technologies and tools.
  • Designs standards that all developers must abide by when developing their own database solutions and assists / mentors other DBAs and BI Developers.
  • Works closely with, coordinates activities, and engages with IT infrastructure teams, application analysts, development teams, and vendors to understand technologies and capabilities required to ensure a timely delivery of new projects/systems resulting in cost-effective solutions.
  • Assists with proactive monitoring of SQL Server databases.
  • Diagnoses performance problems, recommends and implements solutions or alternatives.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting the more complicated SQL Server issues.

Complexity of Work

  • This is a highly technical role that requires specialized skills and in-depth knowledge of SQL Server and associated technologies in an enterprise environment.
  • The incumbent must have hands-on experience with advanced technologies such as AlwaysOn, clustering, replication, and virtual server environments.
  • Must be able to design and lead major software and hardware upgrades for SQL Server.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize effectively between different activities and teams. Participates in on-call rotation for DBA team.
