Well established steel manufacturer is looking for a Sales Account Manager to be located within 4 hours of their corporate office in La Porte, Indiana to work remotely from their home office and travel up to 40% – 60% of the time for sales calls to client sites. Company provides vehicle, mobile phone, laptop, and paid expenses. Company has large budget for sales team and understands the value of a quality and driven sales force.  

The Sales Account Manager will drive sales, growth and manage existing accounts for steel rolls, bearings and other steel and aluminum coil processing products. 

The Sales Account Manager will develop relationships with key contacts within customer organizations, personalize their approach to each buyer, and provide on-site technical support as required. Will provide weekly sales reports to management detailing status of existing accounts, prospective new business, and competitor behavior. Manager will also be responsible for new product and market development. Sales Account Manager will work closely with the Plant Operations Manager, Production Manager and General Manager.

In addition to the requirements below, the successful candidate will be a well-organized self-starter and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. Background in a heavy manufacturing or precision machining job shop environment is highly preferred.


4-year degree – engineering or metallurgy preferred

2 to 5 years’ industrial sales or engineering/technical position – metals industry preferred

Experienced with Order Entry and ERP software, mobile communications, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

Must have a strong working knowledge of machine shop products and operations.

Ability to persuade and influence others, develop and deliver presentations, create, compose, and edit written materials.

Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques a plus.

Position requires travel (40% to 60%) within assigned territory, including US & Canada. Other international travel may be required.
