Federal Business Development Professional

Role Summary:
Our Northern Virginia-based client is looking for a Business Development Professional with experience targeting the Federal market, identifying, developing, and qualifying new business opportunities and aggressively moving them through the sales cycle to close. This role will require daily interaction with the market including phone, face to face, hosting webinars, trade shows, etc. You will interface internally with the Marketing Teams to support the definition of marketing campaigns, and work with the Proposal Coordinator and Capture Managers to developing winning proposals.

Essential Functions:

  • Achieve sales growth and signing targets
  • Identifies new opportunities
  • Drives opportunities from discovery to completion
  • Ability to identify the need for or benefits of teaming partners and the associated oversight of required agreements
  • Experience and understanding of how government agencies buy technology-based solutions
  • Establish relationships with key government agencies
  • Prepares and presents capability statements and other new business information presentations
  • Presents information and becomes a recognized thought-leader in location technologies through regular blogging, tweeting, and participation in related industry forums and conferences

  • Ability to rapidly qualify leads to eliminate wasted energy
  • Capable of presenting technologies and ideas to decision makers
  • Consultative in nature. Possess the ability to understand and solve the client’s business problem
  • Ability to engage clients, track and qualify leads, and close sales
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize multiple on-going projects

 

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, IT
  • Clearance is bonus
  • 5+ years of Technology Sales experience with proven win ratio
  • Experience selling within Federal IDIQ contracts with DoD and Civilian agencies
  • Effective oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to establish and maintain productive customer and industry participant networks are essential
  • Efficiency in the use of Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is required
  • Experience mining and leveraging GovWin, FedBizOps, FedConnect, eBUY, and other similar system
  • Additional experience can be substituted for education
