Iām not a futurist or technologist but my early forays into ChatGPT have shown me itās useful for originality in content creation. Iāve begun to incorporate it into my video courses. Iāve even used it for some tedious tasks (but with a heavy hand in the editing).Ā
But no matter how you feel about itāAI is here. So which types of jobs are most at risk? Whatās the best way to stay relevant?Ā
WHICH JOBS ARE MOST AT RISK?Ā
According to a Goldman SachsĀ study, 300 million full-time jobs around the world will be impacted by automation. They say āMost jobs and industries are only partially exposed to automation and are thus more likely to be complemented rather than substituted by AI.ā So which are the most endangered?Ā
Joe Apfelbaum, who teaches entrepreneurs how to use AI through hisĀ courseĀ says most at risk are jobs that use a process that can be done faster and cheaper with AI like assembling products or filing tax returns.Ā
āThere is going to be a long period of transition, where you can perform incredibly well at your job by taking advantage of these new tools before the average person does. Youāre using a calculator and everyone else is still working by handā who do you think is going to get promoted?āĀ
Paul Canetti, Professor at Columbia Business School and Founder/CEO of Skej, a new AI scheduling assistant company says, āIf youāre a plumber, or own/manage a plumbing business, youāre good. AI doesnāt have arms and hands.ā Canetti says that decision-makers and people managers are also safe because AI canāt motivate or relate to humans or build political capitalā ānot any time soon anyway.ā
Shannan Monson,Ā a founder and educator says itās not all doom and gloom. āWe didnāt stop washing our dishes just because the dishwasher was invented. We get to do it faster, easier, and with less effort.ā
