Class Overview:

Professional Scrum with KanbanTM (PSK) is a 2-day course that teaches Scrum practitioners how to apply Kanban practices to their work. Through theory, case studies, and hands-on exercises, participants will understand the importance of transparency and flow as it pertains to the Scrum framework.

What You Will Learn:

In this class, students will learn how Scrum Teams can introduce additional practices from Kanban without changing the core Scrum framework. We will explore in detail how the Scrum Events, Roles, Artifacts, and other framework components are potentially impacted by a move to a more flow-based process. The overall result will better effectiveness, efficiency, and predictability of your Scrum teams.

In short, you will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of how the flow works within the context of Scrum
  • Be introduced to Kanban practices that Scrum Teams can adopt to help improve their effectiveness and efficiency
  • Understand how to effectively use the appropriate Kanban practices without changing Scrum

Professional Scrum with Kanban Certification:

All participants completing the Professional Scrum with Kanban course will receive a password to attempt the Professional Scrum with Kanban I (PSK I) assessment. If you attempt the PSK I assessment within 14 days and do not score at least 90%, you will be granted a 2nd attempt at no additional cost.

  • How do I achieve the Professional Scrum With Kanban I (PSK I) certification?
    • The PSK I certification is achieved by taking and passing an online assessment in your own time following the course. It can be taken from any internet-connected computer.
  • What is required to achieve the Professional Scrum With Kanban I (PSK I) certification?
    • The PSK I assessment must be completed in 60 minutes. The pass mark is 90%.
  • What are the course hours?
    • Courses start at 09:00 and finish at 16:45 each day.
  • How many people may attend?
    • This PSK course is capped at around 18 attendees to ensure a premium experience.
  • How should I prepare for the course?
    • The only preparation required is to read the Scrum Guide and the Kanban Guide for Scrum Teams.

Instructor Bio (Primary):

Daniel Vacanti is a 25-plus year software industry veteran who has spent most of his career focusing on Lean and Agile practices. In 2007, he helped to develop the Kanban Method for knowledge work and managed the world’s first project implementation of Kanban that year. He has been conducting Lean-Agile training, coaching, and consulting ever since. In 2011 he founded ActionableAgileTM (previously Corporate Kanban) which provides industry-leading predictive analytics tools and services organizations that utilize Lean-Agile practices. In 2015 he published his book, “Actionable Agile Metrics for Predictability”, which is the definitive guide to flow-based metrics and analytics. In 2017, he helped to develop the “Professional Scrum with Kanban” class with Scrum.org. Daniel holds an M.B.A. and regularly teaches a class on lean principles for software management at the University of California Berkeley.

Instructor Bio:

Anjali Leon is a veteran Agility Coach and Educator with a track record of successfully introducing Design Thinking, and Lean and Agile principles and practices in a variety of industries including high-tech, energy, education, healthcare, retail, and government. Her experience as an Agile Practitioner and her prior fifteen years of experience in technical and leadership roles give her the unique perspective of the delicate balance between rigor and flexibility necessary for organizations to be agile and remain competitive.

Anjali infuses her classes with emerging thought leadership and stories from real-life experience. Her interactive, participatory and engaging teaching style and Training from the Back of the Room techniques create an experience that not only leave her learners feeling inspired, knowledgeable, and competent but energized and eager to put their learning into practice. Her students often claim that they look forward to the next time they can attend one of her classes!

Her credentials include a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Drexel University. She also holds certifications as a PMP (Project Management Professional), PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Professional), CSM (Certified Scrum Master), CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner), CSP (Certified Scrum Professional), SPC4 (Scaled Agile Professional), PSK I(Professional Scrum with Kanban) and is a recognized Agile Team Facilitator (ICP-ATF) and Agile Coach (ICP-ACC) through IC Agile. She is also certified as an AgilityHealth Facilitator (AHF). Anjali is an active member of South Florida’s Agile community and regularly speaks and leads at Agile events and conferences. She founded the thriving South Florida Women In Agile group and mentors budding agilists – mostly women.
