Is it reasonable to expect privacy in an end-to-end encrypted world?

If ever there was a divisive topic, it has to be that of privacy in the internet world. Many of us would consider our personal communication to be pretty benign and we wouldn’t care if the powers that be took a peek from time to time. Still others would ‘freak-out’ at the very idea of government agencies ‘spying’ on us.

Recent terrorist attacks have once again thrown the use of end-to-end encryption on consumer devices into the forefront of discussion between consumers, hardware and software manufacturers, carriers, and government agencies tasked with keeping us safe.

In the wake of the recent Westminster terror attack, many in government think it’s time for reasonable measures to take effect.

Big Success for Local Events

Just this past week we’ve witnessed two amazing success stories for local South Florida events.

The CIO Council of South Florida held its 11th annual State of the CIO event showcasing the ever-changing role of the modern CIO. The event was attended by a record breaking crowd of over 300 enthusiastic attendees and a healthy 33 vendor partners. The State of the CIO is one of two signature events for the organization, the other being the annual golf outing in September. Visit the event gallery.

Earlier in the week saw the running of the 13th annual Code Camp and it was not only the biggest and best yet but also the biggest in the nation.

A few stats:

  • 1,495 registrations of professional software engineers,
  • 100 technical sessions, 90 speaker.
  • the biggest in the nation!

South Florida Code Camp is a FREE one day GEEK FEST held this year on Saturday March 11, 2017. This was the 13th year for South Florida Code Camp. The event boasts speakers from the local community and beyond, presenting some of the most requested topics like Machine Learning, DotNet Core, Windows 10, Mobile Development, ASP.NET, Javascript, JQuery, Visual Studio 2015, MVC Framework, Sharepoint, SQL Server 2016, Xamarin, cross platform development and Azure.
