This week we are having a mini-focus on all-things software. Starting with our Top Job pick which is for a QA tester with a great local Miami firm. Our friend Tom Hudson from WLRN radio produced a fascinating mash up of South Florida tech personalities discussing their views on South Florida as a Tech Hub – hear the on-line broadcast of WLRN’s Sunshine Economy. We’re also highlighting this Thursday’s Agile Transformation Summit. Just a few weeks out we have Code for Miami’s #HackforChange, and SQL Saturday #379.
So get out there and support your local tech community.

About Agile Transformation Summit:
You don’t have to travel far to meet the nationally recognized Agile thought leaders, Agile Transformation Summit brings them to our neighborhood for one high energy day in May! Network with senior executives from South Florida companies and IT professionals to learn about their Agile journey. We set the bar high last year with the caliber of the program, and this year the bar is even higher! Cutting edge talks that you would only see in the major global conferences, interactive Agile games, structured networking events, and an executive track; all accessible at no additional cost! Conference proceeds will contribute to the Emerging Technology Scholarship Fund at Nova Southeastern University for students with a high GPA and financial need.

For several years now the tech industry here has been a mix of promise and proclamations. Miami has been listed among the places to become the next Silicon Valley even while many in the industry here resist that kind of hype.
We asked one group to address their letters to the Miami tech community of 2030, telling the future leaders a little about today’s tech environment and their hopes for what it will be in 15 years. They were optimistic, realistic and, in one case, apologetic.
Listen to this fascinating broadcast on the WLRN website.

Every day you test software. With the advent of DevOps, you test production software more than ever before. Testing is a good pathway into the software world. If you want to learn more, attend the next South Florida Software Testing meetup for a discussion of the automation framework by Freddy Vega – and maybe a simulcast with the New York Testers meetup in Manhattan.
