Our client is looking for 2 WDSII / Progress developers to support them thru an integration of an outside distribution system with their systems and to assist in resolving systems issues. This is a minimum 6 month assignment with the probable extension for up to 1 yr.
They need a seasoned professional Progress 4GL application developer who will be able to immediately help reduce the outstanding WDS-II ERP system programming request queue. When encountered, the developer will assess the potential for transforming hard-coded logic into more flexible and reusable program code with an eye toward consolidating redundant functionalities and programs.
In consultation with internal development staff, opportunities for business logic standardization, abstraction, reuse, and externalization will be identified, documented, and developed. Root cause analysis will be emphasized in correcting system defects and existing workarounds will be reconsidered in favor of deeper solutions.
The successful applicant will be able to investigate, analyze, and program changes in our ERP system and should be generally conversant in all aspects of the system including sales order fulfillment, inventory management, purchasing, and basic accounting. The demonstrated ability to “think outside the box” will be an important skill, as will the demonstrated ability to develop solutions that integrate into other architectures. Being that the IT architecture is transitioning to an enterprise service bus model, experience in building and maintaining web services using XML and SOAP, object-oriented design, and message queue management including Sonic MQ are essential.
The workload will apportioned across character-based user interfaces, the creation and maintenance of batch processes and reports, core business process logic modifications, EDI integrations, and UNIX shell scripting.

• Deep ERP system experience, ideally with WDS-II
• Messaging queue experience, preferably with Sonic MQ
