Our client in Palm Beach Gardens is in need of a Senior Desktop Engineer for a 6 month contract to perm position to start immediately. The Desktop Engineer’s role is to support in-house and vendor computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The Desktop Engineer will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and assistance where required.
? Create, test, deploy Windows workstation images (Tablet, Laptop, Desktop).
? Experience in MDT 2010.
? Advanced experience in Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit.
? Transition planning for migration of users from existing workstation images to latest image.
? Advanced experience with User State Migration Tool (USMT).
? Maintain backward compatibility of new images with existing hardware deployed throughout the enterprise.
? Manage the transition planning for new hardware models for existing workstation vendors.
? Perform the annual cost and quality review on existing workstation vendors as well as other vendors in the marketplace.
? Manage support activities for all enterprise productivity software applications (Google Apps for Business, Microsoft Office, web browsers, etc.).
? Experience in application packaging.
? Manage the SCCM 2012 operating environment.
? Advanced experience in WSUS.
? Review and enforce all best practices for Desktop management including not limited to workstation patching, software procurement, software deployment, inventory management, license auditing, image creation & deployment, and workstation naming standards.
? Executive User support & perform disaster recovery of workstations when applicable.
? Evaluate and implement all new workstation technologies or solutions
? Thorough understanding of Active Directory.
? Experience designing desktop security and configuration management through Group Policy Objects (GPO), Local Policy Objects (LPO), Login scripts, and local scripts.
? Experience implementing and/or managing security solutions and developing the appropriate process.
? Extensive scripting experience utilizing a variety of languages such as VB Script, Powershell or other scripting languages or tools.
? Extensive experience with desktop virtualization technologies.
? Strong technical skills with subject matter expertise in one or more of the following specialties: Intrusion Detection, Incident Management & Response, Malware Analysis, Computer Forensics.
? Strong understanding of networking concepts and technologies including: TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, and DHCP are required.
? Thorough knowledge of PKI for application configuration, security tokens. and web certificates.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
? Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering and/or 5+ years equivalent work experience.
? 5+ years of OS deployment experience.
? Experience in a large corporate multi-site organization containing 7K+ machines.
? Microsoft Certified System Engineer certification, preferred not required.
? Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist for SCCM 2012, preferred not required.
