Abstract: In this presentation, Irfan will feature an overview of Big Data, including the history and background of Hadoop and its ecosystems. He will describe Hadoop’s architecture, the major components of Hadoop’s ecosystem, their functionality, including a review and comparison of commercially available Hadoop distributions. Bio:
Irfan Zaidi is a seasoned IT professional with over 20 years of experience in the IT field. His extensive background in database technologies has landed him multiple opportunities in Oracle and SQL Server database administration, Unix/Linux server administration, disaster recovery planning, and technology solutions architecting. Irfan is currently employed at Baptist Health South Florida as a Solutions Architect and is a senior member of the Business Intelligence and Decision Support (BIDS) team. Prior to that, Irfan worked at World Bank where he architected, designed and implemented banking and business applications. Irfan was recently credited for the successful implementation of Big Data at Baptist Health. He holds a Masters degree in Information Technology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. In his spare time, Irfan enjoys learning and playing with new technologies as well as spending time with his wife and two children.
