Topic #1: (Michael Schofield) Most WordPress themes are formulaic. This isn’t an insult, it’s a sound business decision to puzzle-together cool designs fast. But how well do these designs measure in terms of the user experience – a quantitative measure that is crucial to business success, e-commerce conversion rates, readability, shareability, and retention? In this talk, we’ll look at the latest design trends popular in WordPress and – using results from broad usability and ethnographic studies – consider what works, what doesn’t, and what bandwagons we should bail out of immediately.
