FAU will be hosting us this time in their advanced computing and robotics department. They will also spend some time at the beginning showing off some of what they are working on and what they are doing. Here is a quote
“We like to say we’re doing ‘robo-pscyhology’: using deep learning techniques for machine perception and reinforcement learning embedded in a behaving robot with the goal of developing and testing computational models of biological intelligence. To do this, we use an off the shelf remotely controlled vehicle that sends images to a computer running an ANN which then tells the rover what to do. This allows us to have some head-duty computing power in the remote ‘brain’ to do sparse coding, conv nets, deep Q learning etc… ”
The rest of the evening will be spent in similiar fashion open hacking on various efforts with newbies and experts alike. Some folks are pursuing Kaggle, some self driving cars, others are pursuing Cocos among other efforts.
If you need assistance with Python, R, Tensor Flow, Docker, Azure or perhaps you are an expert; this is a great place for you. There will be folks who can help you get up and running as well as jumping into getting hands on and proficient.
