Global competition and consumer thirst for new and creative products has made successful innovation a survival tool for companies and employees alike.

ITWomen is pleased to kick off its 2016 Professional Development speaker series with Irene Lam, who has built her career on innovation. Irene is Vice President of R&D for Access Control and Video Systems brands within Tyco Security Products.

On Wednesday, January 20, Irene will speak on how to Leverage Design Thinking to Create a Culture of Innovation.

Irene is responsible for product development for all access control and video brands at Tyco, from the design phase to the manufacturing phase.

Prior to joining Tyco, Irene was the Senior Product Manager at CyOptics, a fiber optics startup headquartered in Waltham, MA. She has over 11 years of product marketing and management experience in several high tech companies including Texas Instruments, Lasertron, and Corning.

Leading a 500-person department, Ms. Lam is responsible for the launch of 30 product families every year. She oversees eight development centers around the world, including the Shanghai and Bangalore Technology centers.

Security Systems News recognized Irene Lam as one of the top 10 women in Security for 2015.

Irene deeply believes in paying it forward and is actively involved in being a mentor – formal and informal — within and outside of Tyco. She holds a chemical engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
