Wes supports customers by providing design solutions that are scalable, flexible, and secure. He has a long history in enterprise infrastructure, most recently at a banking solutions provider working with many of the major financial institutions.
Topic: “Redshift– Amazon’s petabyte scale data warehouse”
The presentation will begin with a brief overview of AWS Analytics services, including, but not limited to, RDS, Flavors of RDS and EMR.
Wes will take us through an introduction of the Redshift cluster architecture and storage types before delving deeper into the data warehouse system.
Topics that will be covered include:
- Redshift Cluster Architecture
- Performance and the Impact of Sort Keys
- Database Migration Service (DMS)
- ETL Data Ingestion and Migration Options
Wes will demonstrate how to connect to clusters with jdbc or odbc tools, as well as how to run scripts, create tables, load data and connect with BI tools.
We will cap off the presentation with a case study focused on scaling up clusters and performance monitoring followed by a Q&A session.
