Register! All-day Javascript Workshop @ITPalooza with Damian Montero and Jeremy Lawson

JavaScript is constantly in a state of flux. There are new frameworks, best practices, methodologies, language features, and devices to support all the time. As you gain experience you’ll find one constant, fundamentals. Understanding the fundamentals will allow you to sift through the noise, use frameworks that have staying power, apply methodologies that are right for the project, and dabble in supporting the various new devices.

In this workshop, we are going to take it all the way back to the basics. We will gain a deeper understanding of JavaScript by taking a more detailed look at topics you are already familiar with, as well as some newer topics that are now a part of modern browsers. Some of the topics we are going to focus on are; Variables, Functions, Scope, Objects, Arrays, Coercion, Operators, the DOM, ES2015+, and much much more.

The workshop is broken down into sections. Each section will consist of a short lecture, to introduce a topic, some sample code, and then exercises. This is geared toward getting you as many hands-on experiences as possible.

By the end of the course, you will walk away with a comprehensive understanding of what you do on a daily basis. This will allow you to make better decisions on which new framework to use, or which methodology is correct for your current project, and when and where to apply new language features. Our aim is to demystify the JavaScript language just a bit and put you in a position to grow.”
